We assess the immediate risk, affected circuits, switchboard and whether the fault sits inside the property or on the network side. The work covers making the site safe, methodical diagnosis, and repair or isolation where possible. For outages, repeated tripping, burning smells and storm damage, see the full detail on emergency electrical repairs.
Tecoma sits at about 220 m elevation, and its homes are built in hilly country that is well planted with trees. That setting shapes after-hours electrical work. Wind and heavy rain bring down branches on overhead lines, water finds its way into outdoor fittings, and long runs of cable to sheds and studios on sloping blocks get disturbed. AusNet Services, the distributor, handles damage on the network side; the owner is responsible for private lines and everything beyond the meter.
Ferny Creek, a hills station about 3 km away at 513 m, averages a January maximum of 24.4 °C and a July minimum of 5.3 °C over a short record, so heating loads matter more than cooling here. At the 2021 Census, 51.4% of occupied dwellings were owned with a mortgage and 14.8% were rented, so some tenants will need to loop in their agent when the power fails. A Bushfire Prone Area and a Bushfire Management Overlay both cover parts of Tecoma. That is a planning matter rather than a reason for alarm, and VicPlan shows how any one address is mapped.

Absolutely fantastic service and work done! The boys were super accommodating, answered any questions I had without a problem, left everything neat and tidy and overall did an amazing job installing our battery and inverter. Cannot recommend enough.

The neighbouring suburbs we work are Belgrave, Belgrave Heights, Ferny Creek and Lysterfield. A Tecoma booking often slots into a run we already have through them.
That is Yarra Ranges, postcode 3160. Nothing about the usual job requires a council application.
If there's a burning smell, switch off the affected circuit at the board. If the whole house is out, check whether the neighbours are too, that usually means a network fault rather than yours. Then don't touch anything else.
Tell us what has happened and which circuits are affected. We’ll make the site safe, diagnose the cause and explain whether it can be repaired or needs isolation. Request help or call our Boronia crew to discuss the fault.
