AS/NZS 3760 sets test intervals by environment, not by habit. Construction sites: three-monthly, because leads live a hard life in the weather and under foot traffic. Factories and workshops: six-monthly to yearly depending on conditions. Offices: up to five-yearly for equipment that never moves — the kettle cord gets tested far more often than the fixed monitor lead behind a desk. Applying one blanket interval to everything wastes money at one end and risks compliance at the other.
The test itself is more than the sticker: earth continuity, insulation resistance, polarity — measured, not eyeballed. And RCD testing belongs in the same visit: the button test proves it trips, but only a timed test proves it trips fast enough to save a life. We log both, per device, in the register you'll hand to any auditor.
